Meet Orla

Over the coming weeks we are looking forward to introducing you to some of the CMETrust community. In preparation for Giving Tuesday, which is fast approaching, we thought we'd kick things off by introducing you to one of our community fundraisers whose unique fundraising idea raised $282 dollars for CMETrust last year, enough to cover the cost of accommodations for a student at school for one year!

Meet Orla

Why did you want to raise funds for CMETrust?

I wanted to raise money for CMETrust because I think every girl and every boy should have a chance to go to school.

How did you come up with the idea for your fundraiser?

I learned how to make the ornaments with my brownie group and I thought it would be a great item to sell and donate the money to CMETrust.

Why do you think education is important?

Education is something that I’m most grateful for. I think education is important because without an education it would be really hard to find a job and to know what your rights are.

Thanks so much to Orla for her great idea and for helping support our scholarships!

Feeling Inspired?

Community fundraising is one great way to support CMETrust, but not the only one! Here are a few ideas:

Securities: Did you know you can donate securities to CMETrust via Canada Helps or Link Charity? And there is still time to donate for this year (and tax advantage of the tax break!)

To find out more about how to donate securities on either platform please contact Consuelo van Beek [email protected] and/or Laurie Anne Guenette [email protected] to discuss.

Gift Cards: Meaningful, convenient and easy to send, our gift cards make a great gift for freinds, family, teacher and more! Check out our latest holiday designs on our Gift Card Page.

Work Charitable Campaigns: Did you know many work-run charitable giving programs let you select the charity your money will support?

Donations: You can donate online or by mail ... find out more on our donations page! All donations over $20 are eligible for a tax receipt.
