Abubakar Abdallah is 13 years old. He is an only child living with his mother in Mathare. Abubakar attended Kwakeni A/C primary school and his favourite subject is Mathematics. “I want to go to secondary school to help me achieve my dreams,” he says. Those dreams include being an engineer when he’s older. In the meantime, Abubakar enjoys playing football and hockey, and studying mathematics, physics and chemistry.
Alex Rivasia is 16 years old. He is an orphan who is cared for by a guardian in Mathare, where he attended Missions of Hope primary school. Alex loves science and wants to study chemistry in secondary school in order to pave his way to becoming a doctor. Alex also really enjoys playing football in his spare time.
Angela Wanjiku is 22 years old. She lives with her mother and is the eldest of two brothers and three sisters. She went to Kareri primary school. Angela loves dancing and English, and hopes to study Law in order to become a lawyer in her future.
Emmanuel Musya Muinde is a 14-year-old orphan from Kitui who now lives with his grandmother in Mathare. He went to St. Peter’s Academy primary school where his favourite subject was science. He aspires to learn how to fly and become a pilot, while enjoying volleyball in his spare time.
Evans Odhiambo is 15 years old and loves playing football. He is an orphan, and has two older sisters and one younger sister. Evans attended Koga primary school and his favourite subject is mathematics. Evans is striving to go to university to study law.
Peter Irungu is 15 years old and lives with his parents who own a small business in Mathare. He has three brothers and three sisters. At MCEDO primary school, Peter’s favourite subject was social studies. He wanted the opportunity to go to secondary school “to open up a bright future.” Peter is interested in becoming a meteorologist when he’s older, and enjoys football in his spare time.
